Butch Campbell is the director, co-producer, writer,
editor and camera operator for the documentary film “Out of
the Pit: Dog Fighting in Chicago.” The film premiered on January
27, 2004 on WTTW, Chicago’s PBS Affiliate.
Educational and Professional Background
Butch received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications
in 1997 from the University of Missouri in St. Louis, with an emphasis
in TV and Film Production. Upon graduation, he moved to Portland,
Oregon, where he began his career in the TV and film industry. After
gaining six months of experience there, Butch moved to Chicago for
more opportunities.
In 1999 Butch began working as a grip for a local production company.
Through networking and relationship building, Butch was able to gain
a sponsorship to join the local Broadcasting Engineer Union, of which
he is currently an active member.
